MACOMB/MOLINE, IL – The Western Illinois University Council of Academic Advisors has named College of Arts and Sciences Academic Advisor Kenneth Wheeler as the Advisor of the Month for November.
Wheeler was nominated by at least two of the students he advises, including one who said he goes "above and beyond in discussing future classes with me and listened to everything I had to say to make sure we were both on the same page in getting me prepared for my future plans."
The nominee also said Wheeler is very responsive when they have questions or concerns.
"He is very positive all throughout meetings and has made my WIU experience so great," the nominee said. "I've even talked to friends and family about how happy I am with all his help through every advising appointment I have had to make with him."
A second nominee said Wheeler is the best academic advisor they have ever had.
"As a transfer student, I was so worried about finally getting my degree finished, figuring out what classes to take, if I could get financial aid and scholarships, and figuring out how the online classes worked," they said. "My advisor has been so encouraging - I'm not sure I would have been able to complete my degree without his help. My nominee is a fantastic representation of the positive image and direction of WIU."
Each month, a WIU advisor is honored with a certificate and trophy. Award winners are decided by a committee that considers each of the applications for the month.
