MACOMB, IL – Western Illinois University Sports Equipment Supervisor Parampal Singh has been named the Al and Elaine Goldfarb Civil Service Employee of the Month for July.
Singh came to WIU in 2017, starting in his current position.
According to his nominator, Singh is "one of the kindest and most giving people" they know.
"He has one mood – a good one," said the nominator. "He is invested in his job, and the dedication he exhibits makes education a great experience for the students, faculty and staff of the kinesiology department."
Singh's nominators also gave several examples of how he goes "above and beyond" in his position, including treating equipment with electrostatic sprayers to prevent the spread of COVID-19, and coming in early to make sure gymnastics mats are properly secured for an early class.
In August 2010, the Goldfarbs established an endowment to permanently fund the University's Civil Service Employee of the Month award. The Goldfarb endowment is used to fund a $100 award for the recipient of the Civil Service Employee of the Month, as well as a plaque.
The WIU Foundation provides a $500 stipend for the Civil Service Employee of the Year. Western faculty, staff and administrators, as well as community members, wishing to nominate a civil service employee for the monthly recognition should contact the Civil Service Employees Council (CSEC) at csec-nominations-g@wiu.edu.
