Athletes raise money for charity during lockdown (10 July 2020) As UK government restrictions brought an
abrupt end to several sporting leagues and seasons, our student-athletes addressed the challenges of
lockdown within the most inspiring way. Since March 2020, our student-athletes have raised over £16,000
for worthy causes through a variety of self-organised challenges and remote activities. From distance
running and weightlifting events to keepy-uppy and handstand challenges,
our athletes participated in a
range of imaginative and creative activities from across the UK and around the world, raising money for
worthy causes and staying connected with their teammates. Teamwork and unity are some of the
characteristics we often see on the sports pitches, and we are incredibly proud to see our athletes
demonstrate these characteristics in such uncertain times and raise funds for so many worthy causes.
